120,000 banned bots & changes to Death Knights

World of Warcraft (WoW) players can expect a safer gaming experience with the recent removal of almost 120,000 malicious bot accounts from the ecosystem. Blizzard Entertainment, the game developer, has taken steps to eradicate accounts that engage in cheating, automation, and the buying and selling of gold and power leveling services for real money.

In addition to their ongoing banwaves, the company is also introducing character creation restrictions to the game’s latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Starting next week, players who do not have a level 55 character on their account will no longer be able to create a Death Knight. This move is aimed at slowing the proliferation of malicious behavior in the game, as it has become a tempting vector for bad actors to exploit.

Blizzard Entertainment encourages players to report suspected cheating and other violations to help improve the game’s environment. With these measures, WoW players can look forward to a safer and more enjoyable gaming experience. (for now)
