The Mechanar Dungeon Overview
Quick facts
The Mechanar (“Mech”) is one of the Tempest Keep 5-player instances in Netherstorm. It’s a fast, loot-dense run with three bosses plus the Gatewatchers mini-boss pair that you must defeat to progress.
How to Get to The Mechanar
The Mechanar is in Netherstorm at 70, 69, inside the Tempest Keep hub. Of the three Tempest Keep dungeons, if you are front-facing, Mechanar entrance is on the right and requires a flying mount to reach:

How to Enter The Mechanar Heroic Mode
To enter Heroic, you need Level 70 and Revered with The Sha’tar. Purchase the Heroic key 30634 from the quartermaster 21432.
Every Heroic boss drops 29434 (turn in to G’eras in Shattrath for epic rewards), and the final boss guarantees a 23572.
The Mechanar Quests
This video walkthrough shows where to pick up every The Mechanar quest before entering the dungeon and inside The Mechanar in TBC Classic.
Quest overview
Bosses
The Gatewatchers
19218 and 19710 are the two Mo’arg mini-bosses. You must kill both to get 30436 and 30437, which combine into 30438 to open the way forward.
Gatewatcher Gyro-Kill Strategy
- Simple tank-and-spank.
- Tank faces him away from the group to reduce Stream of Machine Fluid damage.
- Heroic: Saw Blade hurts more. Healer should be ready to triage whoever has it.
Gatewatcher Gyro-Kill Abilities
Gatewatcher Iron-Hand Strategy
- Tank with back to a wall.
- Non-melee stay max range.
- Run out during Jackhammer and don’t stand in Stream of Machine Fluid.
- Heroic: higher damage, especially Jackhammer.
Gatewatcher Iron-Hand Abilities
Mechano-Lord Capacitus
19219 is an Arcane-heavy titan boss on the first floor. Normal and Heroic play very differently.
Mechano-Lord Capacitus Strategy
- Mostly Arcane damage. Tanks can use 22845 to smooth incoming hits.
- Normal: watch his shield color. Red shield = stop melee. Green shield = stop spell damage.
- Heroic: the fight has a 3-minute timer and uses Polarity Shift. Stack with players who have the same charge, and do not cross charges (heavy damage).
Mechano-Lord Capacitus Abilities
Nethermancer Sepethrea
19221 is technically optional, but she’s a common “make or break” check in Heroic if movement is sloppy.
Nethermancer Sepethrea Strategy
- Clear the room first. You want maximum space.
- She summons 20481 (Raging Flames) at the start. Assign a kiter; they move slowly but punish mistakes.
- Dispel the Disorient from Dragon’s Breath on the tank ASAP so they can regain threat.
- Heroic: she summons three Raging Flames (one more than Normal). Kiter workload is higher.
Nethermancer Sepethrea Abilities
Pathaleon the Calculator
19220 is the final boss. The two big threats are Domination (mind control) and Nether Wraith adds.
Pathaleon the Calculator Strategy
- When Domination goes out, immediately CC the controlled player so they don’t delete your healer.
- Examples: 29124, 38764, 19503.
- When he summons 21062 (Nether Wraiths), swap and kill them immediately.
- He enrages at 20%. Save a little juice and burn him down cleanly.
- Heroic: Wraiths are stronger, so add swaps are even more important.
Pathaleon the Calculator Abilities
The Mechanar Trash Overview
Trash TL;DR
- Humanoid/Demon-heavy: keep CC ready for messy pulls.
- Tinkerers blow up. Spread out, then run when they charge a random player.
- Astromages are kill priority: LoS + interrupts to reduce huge damage.
- Netherbinders: control them and kill after Astromages; delete their spawns immediately.
Common mobs called out in this guide:
- 19716 (Mechanar Tinkerer)
- 19168 (Sunseeker Astromage)
- 20059 (Sunseeker Netherbinder)
- 20478 (summoned add)
