Alterac Valley Quests & Rewards (WoW Classic)
TL;DR
This guide covers the one-time quests in Alterac Valley that reward permanent reputation, gear, or unlocks. Repeatable hand-ins (scraps, supplies, aerial assaults) are intentionally excluded.
Alterac Valley (AV) is a 40-player PvPvE battleground where the win condition is defeating the opposing faction leader. Along the way, there are several quests that can only be completed once per character, and those are the focus here.

- Insignia trinkets that upgrade as your AV reputation increases
- Objective quests for bonus reputation (graveyards, towers, mines)
The Battle for Alterac
The first major one-time quest is The Battle for Alterac and can be picked up at level 51. It asks you to defeat the opposing faction’s leader inside Alterac Valley.
Alliance quest pickup
Pick up the quest from Prospector Stonehewer outside the Alliance camp in the Alterac Mountains.
Horde quest pickup

Hero of the Frostwolf / Hero of the Stormpike
After completing The Battle for Alterac, you receive a follow-up quest that rewards a one-time weapon choice.
Proving Grounds and Insignias
Proving Grounds starts the AV insignia trinket progression. After the first completion, higher ranks become available automatically as your reputation increases. You simply talk to the same NPC again once you meet the next rep threshold.

FAQ
Are these quests repeatable?
No. Everything in this guide is intended to be completed once per character. Some of these chains unlock repeatables later, but the quests listed here are the one-time steps.
Do I need to win AV to finish the one-time quests?
Not always. Some steps can be completed during a loss, but leader-kill quests and certain objectives depend on match flow.
Which quest matters the most for rewards?
The Hero follow-up after killing the opposing leader is the big one, since it offers a one-time weapon choice. Proving Grounds is also important because it unlocks the insignia trinket progression.
That concludes the Alterac Valley quests and reputation rewards.
