Hyjal Summit Raid Guide TBC Classic (Mount Hyjal Boss Strategy)
Hyjal Summit, commonly called Mount Hyjal or Hyjal, is a 25-player raid in The Burning Crusade Classic located within the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. This raid is one of the two Tier 6 raids introduced in Phase 3 and features five bosses, culminating in the battle against Archimonde.
Hyjal Summit drops powerful Tier 6 tokens, high-end weapons, armor, and valuable raid upgrades for every class. Alongside Black Temple, Hyjal Summit represents the next stage of progression after Karazhan, Gruul’s Lair, Magtheridon’s Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, and The Eye.
This guide is intentionally concise and designed for players who want a quick refresher on boss mechanics, trash waves, raid requirements, and key Hyjal Summit strategy.

Rage Winterchill
Strategy
- Spread out to avoid mass Death and Decay damage; move out if in it
- Think of Rage having Frost Mage abilities:
- Frost Armor
- Frost Nova – can be cleansed / Blessing of Freedom
- Icebolt hurts: healers focus big heals on players targeted by it. A burst at first, then large Damage over Time on it
Notes
- Remove stun + dot with:
- Mages: Ice Block, Blink
- Paladins: Divine Shield
- PvP Trinkets

Anetheron
Strategy
- Spread out around due to Carrion Swarm
- Sleep is cast on random targets – cannot be dispelled
- Every minute, Inferno + Towering Infernal spawns on a random player
- OT pick them up, tank near Jaina
- Keep out of range of Vampiric Aura
- All Ranged only kill Towering Infernals
- OT pick them up, tank near Jaina
Notes
- Reduce his Vampirc Aura healing with:
- Hunters: Aimed Shot
- Rogues: Wound Poison
- Warriors: Mortal Strike
- Hunters use Misdirection to help OT pick up Towering Infernals
- They are immune to Taunts

Kaz’rogal
Strategy
- Casts Malevolent Cleave and War Stomp
- Mark of Kaz’rogal is cast frequently
- Every 60 seconds initially
- Then 50 seconds, 40 seconds, 30 seconds, etc.
- As such, this fight is a DPS check
- Consume Mana Potions, Demonic Runes, and Dark Runes early in the fight for a buffer
- Drains 600 mana per 5 seconds
- If your mana reaches zero, you explode
- If you know your mana will hit zero, run at least 40 yards away as to not blow up the raid
- Every 60 seconds initially
Notes
- Mages can Ice Block, Paladins can Divine Shield to remove Mark of Kaz’rogal
- Shadow Resistance Aura and Shadow Protection help

Azgalor
Strategy
- Spread out around Azgalor
- He casts Cleave
- Move out of Rain of Fire
- Casts How of Azgalor silence on the raid
- Every 45 seconds, casts Doom on a player
- OT pick-up Lesser Doomguard after player dies to Doom
Notes
- Shadow Resistance Aura and Shadow Protection can help resist Howl of Azgalor
- Improved Concentration Aura helps
- Warlocks can Soulstone a player, Shaman can Ankh, if afflicted with Doom

Archimonde
Strategy
- Spread out around Archimonde
- Use Tears of the Goddess before you hit the ground, from Air Burst
- Mages and Druids must decurse Grip of the Legion ASAP
- Someone must always be in melee range
- Soul Charge affects the entire raid when someone dies
- When a Paladin, Rogue, or Warrior dies, it deals 4500 physical damage and also a 4-second 50% damage taken increase debuff
- When a Druid, Hunter, or Shaman dies, it deals 4500 Nature damage over 8 seconds, and drains 2250 mana
- When a Mage, Priest, or Warlock dies, it deals 4500 fire damage and silences for 4 seconds
- Basically, don’t die or you grief your raid
